In the Impératif présent this ending is for all the other verbs except those of the two other types above and below, that is:

  • the verbs ending -ir (Second conjugation) e.g. réussir (réussis), agir (agis), finir (finis), fleurir (fleuris),  etc.

  • the verbs ending -oître, -aître and the verbs  plaire, clore, gésir e.g. accroître (accrois), connaître (connais), plaire (plais), etc.

  • the verbs whose Stem 1 ends d, t, c  (Third conjugation). e.g. vaincre (vaincs), battre (bats), mettre (mets), coudre (couds), vendre (vends), perdre (perds), répondre (réponds), etc.

  • for some verbs of the third conjugation e.g. courir (cours), rompre (romps), rire (ris), voir (vois), croire (crois), mourir (meurs), dire (dis), lire ( lis), venir (viens), etc.

 

Exceptions:

 

The verbs avoir, savoir, vouloir use another stem such as follows:

  • aie

  • sache

  • veuille (1ère forme)
